The Procreate app can currently only be used with iPads and iPhones (though I HIGHLY recommend investing in an iPad for this!)
In my personal opinion, the digital design sketching software that Avalon has created to be used with Procreate is an ABSOLUTE GAME CHANGER! It's great to use for helping customers visualize the cake, BUT when it comes DESIGNING a cake, this program is AMAZING.
I can play around with colors and decor, trying out the different scenarios in my head to see how they'll work together in real life...something that can't be done easily or quickly without this software!
How I wish I've had access to this software from the very beginning of my cake art journey! I would have saved my pennies and bought it as soon as possible!
For someone whose brain works the way mine does (and if that's you, I'm sorry btw ;) it is my opinion that this cake sketching software is one of the best investments that can be made in the world of cake art!
And fyi, I have turned down Avalon's offer to become an affiliate for this product simply because I want you to know that I make NOTHING when you purchase any part of this software to help you trust that I truly LOOOOVE this digital sketching program SUUUUUUR MUUUUCH and that if you want to up your design game, THIS is the very next investment you should make.
Links to purchase Procreate and also the cake sketching packages can be found in the supplies tab of this tutorial.
NOTES:
After purchasing this program and the cake sketching packages, I highly recommend that you set aside a full work day to watch Avalon's mini-tutorials in her "Knowledge Hub" (that you'll receive a link to in an email following your purchase) to learn the program and how to use the different design elements that Avalon has created. There are some tricks she shares that will save you much time in getting to know the program and elements involved. And once you "know" it, you'll be able to design cakes rather quickly and with ease!
You'll want to use Google Chrome (Safari works as well) as your browser when installing the cake sketching packages into Procreate on your device. (I know this from having used a different browser at first and having some trouble. Once I switched to Chrome, it was a breeze.)
Definitely join the Cake and Cookie Planner - All Things Planning & Sketching Facebook group so you can ask questions, get some help troubleshooting issues, and talk digital cake design!
I personally use a relatively old iPad 5th generation with this program and it works perfectly (I've included a link to a refurbished one in the supplies section, but if that is no longer available just search for one similar to save money!)
The stylus I have linked in the supply section is the alternative that Avalon recommends if not wanting/able to invest in the very expensive Apple Pencil. I have purchased the alternative stylus myself, and while it has not arrived yet and will be great to have for certain applications, I created my first two digital cake sketches (the Christmas themes in the photos section) without using a stylus at all!
