Using a simple structure, edible fabric and modeling chocolate, surrounding a full tier of cake to create this bassinet cake.
Structure Parts (watch the live session on cake structure to learn more): https://cakeheads.vhx.tv/videos/live-all-about-cake-structure
- 16" x 18" cut MDF board for cake board base
- 7" round cut MDF board for canopy
- 22" tall threaded rod (1/2" thick rod used, but any thickness will do)
- 3 (or 4, if you'd rather) washers used (size to match thickness of threaded rod)
- 4 nuts used (size to match thickness of threaded rod)
Notes:
- I baked 2 cake layers in 3" deep, 12" round cake tins, which equaled 5" in height when leveled, torted, and filled
- I used a 10" round cake tin as a guide to create the crib parts
